Wear a 1920s Inspired Bridal Hairstyle for Your Wedding

| February 21, 2012 | 1 Comment

You are getting ready for your wedding and you don’t want to wear the same-old, same-old boring bun for your walk down the aisle or your wedding reception.

Never fear. You can twist and twirl your medium-length or long hair into a 1920′s inspired bridal hairstyle for your special day.  Use the following tips to break out of your basic bridal rut and wear a sleek and chic do à la Katy Perry and ghd.

Here’s how:

To get this look for your 1920′s themed bridal shower:

    1. Spritz a thickening hairspray throughout your damp strands. Blow-dry hair straight using your fingers instead of a brush.
    2. Curl hair with a 1/2 inch curling iron from the ends to the root. Pin each curl flat to your head.
  1. Mist the pinned curls with hairspray to set. Let the curls stay in your hair for 20 minutes.
  2. Remove the hairpins and lightly brush the curls out gently. If you have long hair, back comb the ends and fold them underneath to create a fabulous and faux bob.
  3. Spray hair with a shine-inducing hairspray to set the look!
For the elegant bride these pinup waves are perfect for the outdoor garden brunch or a bridal party at an elegant restaurant.

To get this look for your wedding day:

  1. Roller set your hair the day before the wedding.
  2. Pin-curl your dry strands with hairpins before bedtime.
  3. The morning of your special day, Release all the curls by raking hair with your fingertips. Apply a pea-sized amount of texturizer to hair.
  4. Brush hair to release curls.
  5.  Apply a quick shot of  hairspray to set.

On your wedding day, pair your flapper-inspired wedding dress with a chunky heel and four or five strands of long pearls for a roaring twenties feel.  No matter how you wear your hair or these looks, you can’t go wrong.

On you honeymoon, don’t forget to pack a gorgeous red ghd straightener, inspired by Snow White!
The Scarlet collection by ghd is sure to help you straighten your strands after a day of swimming with the dolphins or an impromptu picnic on the beach with your new spouse.
Grab this limited collection styler which features  a gorgeous heat-resistant red satin styler roll bag, 2 sectioning clips and a protective plate guard.
